Bat Conservation International (BCI) is dedicated to the enduring protection of the world’s 1,400+ species of bats and their habitats and creating a world in which bats and humans successfully coexist. Bats are vital our world's ecosystems and economy, but hundreds of species are currently under threat. BCI is poised to facilitate some of the highest impact conservation efforts happening anywhere in the world. Our five-year strategic plan to ensure the survival of these extraordinary mammals includes

• Implementing endangered species interventions such as aquiring and protecting caves and other important endangered species habitats that are in imminent threat.
• Protecting and restoring landscapes such as subterranean roosts and agave nectar corridors on which bats rely for their survival.
• Conducting high-priority research and developing scalable solutions to emerging threats such as White-nose Syndrome and wind farm fatalities.
• Inspiring through experience so that future generations understand the importance of these animals to our health and prosperity.

Leap of Joy offers dance and theater arts after school and summer camp enrichment programs to underprivileged children, ages 4 to 14, in underserved schools in Austin, Tx. We teach all styles of dance including modern, tap, and ballet, creative movement, hip hop, performance and theatre arts.

Community First! Village is a 51-acre master planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness. A development of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, this transformative residential program exists to love and serve our neighbors who have been living on the streets, while also empowering the surrounding community into a lifestyle of service with the homeless.

Mount Nebo is a faith-based 501(c)(3) non-profit serving children from hard places in under-resourced communities around the city of Austin, Texas. More specifically, we connect children living in government-funded housing complexes and other privately-owned low-income housing to our volunteer base of over 200 college-aged students in lasting and meaningful relationships.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, cancer has overtaken heart disease as the number one cause of death in the Central Texas Area and over 10,000 people will receive a cancer diagnosis this year. A cancer diagnosis can generate a thousand feelings. Fear, confusion, anxiety, distress, despair, depression, anger, hopelessness and frustration are just a few. With each diagnosis, there will come the need to understand the disease and treatments, to cope with emotions, to manage disruptions and mood disturbances, financial stress, changes in role, spiritual concerns and many other psychosocial problems that co-occur with cancer.

Regarding Cancer was founded in May 2016 by two breast cancer survivors who, after reflecting on their personal journeys through cancer treatment, were dismayed with the limited array of cancer patient support and psychosocial services in the Austin area. Specifically, they recognized an absence of peer-to-peer support and resources to cancer patients and caregivers. Together they started Regarding Cancer to decrease barriers to care and ensure that those touched by cancer have access to the support necessary to be active participants in their own care and mental well-being.

Importantly, the impact of Regarding Cancer’s services is not limited to the cancer patient, but also the survivors who volunteer with the program. Being able to take your own experience and turn it into something positive by helping someone else is invaluable.

Regarding Cancer serves anyone 18 years and older at any stage of cancer, including those facing death and support for loved ones of those who have lost their battle with cancer. All of our programs are available for people across the cancer continuum, including from the time of diagnosis, during, post-treatment and survivorship.

Susan G. Komen® is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside of the federal government while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Komen has set a Bold Goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026. Komen was founded in 1982 by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would end the disease that claimed Suzy’s life.

The Austin Center for Grief & Loss is a non-profit organization focused on grief and trauma with the mission to assist children and adults as they move from loss to life, transforming their grief through therapy, support, education, training and consultation.

The Center provides services to individuals and families who have experienced a loss due to the death of a loved one from illness, miscarriage, accident, suicide, or violence; along with those who have experienced loss due to divorce or separation.

SERVICES

Therapy Services

The Austin Center for Grief & Loss offers individual, couples, and family therapy for both adults and children. Their therapists have training specific to trauma, grief and loss in children and adults. They incorporate play therapy, traditional “talk” therapy and creative interventions into sessions. Many of their therapists are trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR is available for both English and Spanish speaking adults and children. Individual sessions are generally 50 minutes long. They strive to help anyone in need of hope and healing, regardless of ones ability to pay.

Therapy Groups and Workshops

Therapy groups and workshops encourage members to challenge themselves to grow and develop insight into behaviors and emotions. They are lead by one to two mental health professionals and usually consist of 5 to 8 members. They will meet for a set period of time such as 5 to 12 weeks. Fees will vary and scholarships may be available.

Peer Support Groups

Peer support groups are ongoing and meet 2 times per month, unless otherwise stated. Each group is facilitated by two trained volunteers and supervised by a licensed clinician. We strive to keep our groups small to foster safety and offer time to attend to each member.

Professional Training

The Austin Center for Grief & Loss offers professional training, including workshops and consultations in the field of grief, loss, and trauma. These events are held in their training facility as well as off-site locations. CEU's are available to mental health professionals who attend our events. Training's are customized for faith-based, mental health, medical, staffing, corporate and educational personnel who seek assistance in working with persons who are grieving or traumatized.

Crisis Bereavement Services

When a traumatic incident or unexpected loss is experienced, The Austin Center for Grief & Loss can provide onsite services that are tailored to the needs of those impacted. Group and individual crisis bereavement services are available to faith-based, academic, business, and other communities.

The Other Ones Foundation provides extremely low barrier employment, case management, and humanitarian aid to people experiencing homelessness in Austin, TX.

We’re all about the marginalized. The vulnerable. Those “Other Ones” out there living on the fringes. We believe in the extraordinary value of every human life, and that everyone deserves to be fulfilled.
